A Schumacher Centre initiative supported by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Global Environment Facility’s (GEF), Small Grants Fund. The Project aims to provide Solar Energy alternatives in the village of Badnoli, Uttar Pradesh, India. The living standards of the people are below-below poverty line, in a village in the National Capital Region. Schumacher Centre’s endeavor is to facilitate greater accessibility to the people of Badnoli and give them a chance to interact with the outside world, which is full of opportunities. Schumacher Centre will specifically cover the local school in the village with lights, fans and a television set for students' better learning; the community with solar water pump, lights and fans in the community centre; and one hundred and fifty families with the basic requirement of lights and fans.
Schumacher Centre's new campus in Orissa We are very happy to announce a new Campus to further Schumacher Centre’s rural development mission in Orissa. A specialized Skill Building Centre spread over six acres in the tribal landscape of Mayurbhanj district; it aims to bring a few of the 1100 trades identified by the Ministry of Labour, Government of India to the tribal population. The long-term objective is to build a work force well-equipped with appropriate skills and training.
